We had our official second meeting with the City of Caldwell Planning and Zoning Department this morning to go over our present site plans with P and Z, Building Inspection, Streets, Fire, and Code Enforcement. With us were Steve Harrel [CFMC Board of Administration], Tony Wilkerson [Idaho Criminal Justice Division], Mario Puentes [Wright Brothers Construction] and Derrick Boles [Game Time Int’l]. Pastor Sharon and I were there as well.
The City was helpful and supportive, although the term “awestruck” just keeps coming to mind. There aren’t many 45,000 square foot buildings in Caldwell, especially those fulfilling a mission and calling.
Certainly God has been in this process thus far. We are confident that He will continue to lead us. Perhaps more than any other time we are asking, listening, and testing. Every building process has its share of mistakes, but not hearing God doesn’t have to be one of them. He is not silent.
One of the eventualities we face will be splitting our five acre lot into two lots. This action has come before our Board in the past with regard to the two schools that have used our facility. Street improvements (curbs, gutters, sidewalks) were required by the city as
part of the Special Use Permit. By splitting our five acre lot, the Community Center would be responsible only for improvements to the lot they occupy.
It is an enormous project. For kingdom’s sake …
